The HIV Care Tools application provides a comprehensive array of free point-of-care resources designed for clinicians who care for individuals living with or at risk of HIV infection.
Included in the app are quick reference guides that deliver vital information on various aspects of HIV care, including testing protocols, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and the rapid initiation of antiretroviral treatment (ART) for newly diagnosed patients. Additionally, users will find resources aimed at facilitating access to financial assistance for HIV medications.
The app features user-friendly and secure clinical calculators and screening tools that address prevalent co-occurring conditions. These tools encompass various assessments such as BMI, CrCl, FIB-4, PHQ-9, and AUDIT-C, among others.
Clinicians can conveniently access a national network of free clinician warmlines via phone for expert consultation on HIV prevention, care strategies, substance use disorders, hepatitis C, and COVID-19.
Moreover, the application provides localized contact information for experts from the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program who offer complimentary training and capacity building support for clinical teams.
All content within the app is available offline. However, installation and updates require an internet connection.
The AETC Care Tools initiative is spearheaded by the AETC National Coordinating Resource Center (NCRC) and is funded by the HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) within the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The project received grant support through U1OHA28686 awarded to the François-Xavier Bagnoud Center at Rutgers University School of Nursing in collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco. It is noteworthy that no portion of this project was financed through non-governmental sources. The contents and conclusions presented are those of the authors and should not be interpreted as official positions or policies of HRSA, HHS, or the U.S. Government.
